Face Recognition in the Archives
In recent years computer vision has significantly moved forward, especially in terms of human and object recognition. We can find many uses of such software in various archives and libraries, most importantly because it gives us valuable options to shift the burden of countless manual labeling and picture handling from personnel to computers. We will discuss the very basics of face recognition in images and videos (for television archives in particular) along with a couple of demonstrations. We will also talk about the usefulness of automated face recognition for the digital archive of 21st century and all the help it can provide with labeling and searching over great amount of data.
